Features of the Georgian language
The Georgian alphabet has undergone three transformations, with the current version, known as “military script,” emerging in the 9th century. This script, called Mkhedruli, consists of 33 letters, reduced from the original 38 by removing 5 letters. Among these, there are 28 consonants and only 5 vowels. The Georgian language does not distinguish between masculine and feminine genders, and it does not use capital letters.
Interesting fact
Georgian is one of the few languages in the world where the number of sounds equals the number of letters. Most borrowed words in Georgian have come from Arabic, Persian, Greek, and Turkish languages.
