The English terms «liner» and «fire-cross» can be quite confusing due to their various meanings. «Liner» could denote «лайнер (liner » or «воздушное судно (aircraft)», but in the context of technology, it can refer to «гильза (sleeve)», «втулка (bushing)» or «обсадная труба (casing pipe)». However, when it comes to gas turbine themes, these interpretations are not quite applicable. In this domain, “Liner” signifies «пламенная труба (flame tube)» or «жаровая труба (combustion chamber liner)». The second term, «fire-cross», is highly specialized, indicating «патрубок пламяпереброса (flame transfer pipe stub)». Isn’t it true that even in Russian, these terms can be perplexing?

What is proofreading?

Proofreading is the final stage of translation work during which the text is checked for stylistic, punctuation, or mechanical errors (typos).

In fact, the majority of translators in the former CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) are individuals who studied a foreign language at university and obtained the corresponding translation qualification.
